The main types of door functions are Passage (doors that don't require locking), Privacy (a door that can be locked by a button on the inside), Dummy (has no mechanical latch and acts only as a pull).
To identify if you require a right-handed or left-handed lever handle, simply stand on the side of the door where the door closes towards you. If the door is hinged to the right, you require a right-handed lever handle. If the door is hinged to the left, you will need a left-handed lever handle.
The backset is the distance from the edge of the door to the center of the 2-1/8-inch bore hole. In the United States, there are two common backsets for residential door locks: 2 3/8 inches and 2 3/4 inches
The standard door thickness is anywhere from 1 3/4" to 2" thick. Most door hardware that you order or buy will adjust anywhere in between those measurements, maybe even a little bit more. Don't assume your door is standard. Some doors can be 3" thick. Please measure your door before you order your hardware.
Most residential doors are mortised for either a square latch or round corner latch. Drive-in latches do not have a faceplate. They are usually used for hollow doors.
CF Mechanism: Emtek's Concealed Fastener Mechanism (CF Mechanism) is an optional upgrade to your order and consists of concealed screws (no exposed screws). The chassis design of the CF Mechanism is spring-loaded on both sides and comes standard with the 28° Latch. 28 degree latch: A latch that requires less rotation on the handle to disengage the latch mechanism. Useful for people with ergonomic concerns, like users who suffer from arthritis.
